Jazz guitar lessons in New York City
One-on-one lessons with a working New York jazz guitarist and composer, shaped around where you are now and where you want to go. Come to my studio in lower Manhattan, or study online from anywhere. I teach kids, adults, and anyone who wants to learn.

Kids, adults, beginners through advanced players: everyone is welcome. Not sure where to start? We’ll figure it out in the first lesson.
About your teacher
I’m a New York jazz guitarist and composer. My recordings, including Greene Street Vol. 1, have been reviewed in DownBeat, JazzTimes, and The New York Jazz Record, and my new record, Greene Street Vol. 2, is available to pre-order on vinyl.
I earned my BFA from The New School’s Jazz and Contemporary Music program in 1995, where I studied mainly with Garry Dial and Reggie Workman.
I’ve been teaching students of all levels for over 30 years. My focus is helping you find your own voice on the instrument and building the skills to teach yourself, so you keep learning long after the lesson ends.
How lessons work
Email me to set up a lesson. Tell me whether you’d like to meet in person or online, a little about your playing, and a few days and times that work for you. I’ll reply with a time and payment details, and the studio address if you’re coming in person. After each lesson I’ll send notes, charts, or recordings so you have something to practice from. You’ll need your own guitar, whether we meet in person or online.
Please give 24 hours’ notice to reschedule or cancel. Lessons canceled with less notice are charged in full.

Who do you teach?
Kids, adults, and anyone who wants to learn, from first-time players to advanced.
Do you teach online?
Yes. Online lessons are the same length and the same rate as in-person lessons.
Where is your studio?
In lower Manhattan. I’ll send the address once you’ve booked.
Do I need my own guitar?
Yes, for both in-person and online lessons.
